In 1978 it had a full-model change, and the second generation, S130 was released. The new model inherited a long-nose short-deck form from the original and also improved aerodynamics. It also has updated rear arm suspension, disc brakes on all four wheels, and a choice of 2 liter and 2.8 liter inline-six-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection system. In 1980 Fairlady Z went even farther by becoming the first model with detachable sided with T-bar roof. The owners could enjoy drive around Fairlady Z with open top just like enjoying opencars, only it had higher safety and comfort.
